Haruka opens a safe guarding the third and final Void Genome, but is stopped by Shuichiro, who is revealed to be her older brother. He confesses that he was the one who killed her husband, Shu's father, before shooting her, but she manages to escape with the Void regardless. An arrest warrant is issued on Haruka, Segai offers to lead the search for her. As she heads to the Kuhouin estate for shelter, her old friend Kurachi tells her the estate is no longer safe now that Okina is dead, and they head to an Undertakers hideout. Arisa is approached by Shu who convinces her to help him rescue Inori, as she wants to learn more about Gai's true intentions. Meanwhile Shibungi is brought before Gai and expresses his anger on the ruthless individual he has become. Haruka's hideout is stormed by Segai and his men, forcing Ogumo to stay behind to ensure his companions escape, and ends up being killed by Segai. Reunited with Ayase and Tsugumi at another Undertakers hideout, Argo informs them about Ogumo's death. As they start discussing about who should be injected with the Void Genome stolen by Haruka, she warns Ayase that the Void Genome might reject or even kill them later, Segai attacks their hideout. Shu finds out his friends are in danger and leaves Arisa to help them. Ayase convinces Haruka to inject the Void Genome into her, but Segai stops her as he wants the Void Genome for himself. Both Segai and Ayase fight for the vial containing the Void Genome until it rolls over to Shu. Haruka urges him to not use the vial, but he thanks her for her concern before calling her "mother" for the first time and injecting the Void Genome into his body. Shu reveals his own void, a crystallized arm that replaces his lost one and has the power to gather the strengths and weaknesses of peoples voids. By using the power of his friends voids, Shu defeats Segai's Endlaves and kills Segai himself. However, everyone find out that Shu not only absorbed Souta's void, but also his Apocalypse infection as well.
